The Reunion Community Guide: What It's Actually Like to Live There

Amenities, builder options, commute times, and what nobody puts in the brochure — everything you want to know about one of Denver's most popular master-planned communities.

Reunion comes up constantly when buyers are looking at the DIA corridor — and for good reason. It's one of the most established master-planned communities in the Commerce City area, with real amenities, active new construction, and a price point that still makes sense in this market.

Here's an honest look at what it's actually like to live there.

---

THE BASICS

Reunion is a master-planned community in Commerce City (zip code 80022/80640), located northeast of Denver proper. It's been actively building since the early 2000s and is still growing, with a mix of resale homes and new construction across multiple neighborhoods within the larger community.

Home styles range from craftsman-influenced traditional homes to modern new builds. Sizes typically run from around 1,500 to over 4,000 square feet depending on the builder and the specific neighborhood.

THE AMENITIES ARE THE REAL STORY

This is where Reunion stands out from a lot of suburban communities. The amenities here are genuinely impressive for the price point:

- A 21,000 square foot recreation center with fitness facilities

- A community swimming pool

- Over 100 acres of parks and open space

- A 52-acre park with a scenic lake and paved walking paths that loop around the water

- Reunion Coffee House — right on the lake, wraparound porch, the kind of spot where everybody ends up on weekends

- Buffalo Run Golf Course bordering the community (public, 18 holes)

- Multiple pocket parks throughout the neighborhoods

- Movie nights and live music on the grassy field in warmer months

Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is minutes away — 15,000 acres of trails, bison, eagles, prairie dogs, and wetlands. It sounds too good to be true but it's real and it's right there.

THE COMMUTE

This is the honest part of the conversation.

- Denver International Airport: under 20 minutes — genuinely one of Reunion's biggest advantages

- Downtown Denver: 25-35 minutes depending on time of day and route

- Denver Tech Center (DTC): 40-55 minutes during peak hours — this is the commute that needs testing

- Northglenn/Thornton/Brighton: 15-25 minutes

If your office is downtown or in the DTC, test that commute on a weekday before you commit. I-270 and I-76 can stack up. It's manageable — but know what you're signing up for.

If you travel frequently for work or commute toward the airport corridor, Reunion makes a ton of practical sense.

NEW CONSTRUCTION AND RESALE

Reunion still has active new construction happening, with multiple builders in different neighborhoods within the community. That means warranties, modern energy-efficient systems, and in some cases the ability to choose your finishes.

Resale homes are also available at a range of price points. The mix of resale and new construction in the same community gives buyers options that you don't always get elsewhere.

For current availability — what's listed, what's coming soon, what builder incentives are currently on the table — reach out and I'll put together a list for you. This changes frequently and a current snapshot is always more useful than general information.

THE AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP ANGLE

Reunion and the surrounding Commerce City area include ECLT affordable homeownership opportunities for qualified buyers. If you meet the income and asset guidelines, this can be a real path to owning in a community with genuine amenities at a price point that makes homeownership achievable.

I have active experience with ECLT listings in this area and can walk you through exactly what the qualification process looks like.

IS REUNION RIGHT FOR YOU?

It's a great fit if you want space, newer construction, strong community amenities, easy airport access, and a price point that stretches further than Denver proper.

It's probably not the right fit if walkability to city nightlife and restaurants is your top priority, or if your daily commute is to the DTC and you're not willing to sit in traffic.

Either way — I'd rather you know the real picture before you fall in love with a floor plan.
